‘Bridgerton’ star reveals her role in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ remake

Netflix’s Fictional Period Romantic Drama Bridgerton took the world by storm when it debuted in 2020, and season two followed in similar footsteps, with Simone Ashley taking on the lead role in the final storyline. As the British actress reaches new heights of fame for her role, she’s also been confirmed to star in another love story: Disney’s live-action adaptation of The little Mermaid.

As reported by The uninitiated, Ashley will star in a currently unknown role. With reports that the film would star Ariel’s six sisters, and with the studio aiming to cast women of color, the actress might have landed one of the roles.

The upcoming musical fantasy film is one of the most anticipated movies in recent history, and although filming wrapped months ago, the film won’t hit theaters until May 26, 2023.

Starring Halle Bailey as the titular princess, the film will feature new music from Alan Menken, who composed the songs for the original 1989 film. Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jude Akuwudike, Noma Dumezweni, Lorena Andrea and Kajsa Mohammar complete the main cast, with Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina in voice-over roles.

While Ashley’s role in The little Mermaid is still for be disclosed, the actress is currently turning heads as Kathani Sharma in the second season of Bridgerton. She is also known for her role as Olivia Hanan in another hit Netflix series, Sex education. His other television roles include appearances on the British thriller miniseries, Sister, and to Broadchurch, doctors, and Victim.
