The Best and Worst Movies of ‘Harry Potter’ Stars | Entertainment

In 2001, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” hit theaters, marking the start of a decade-long, eight-film franchise that would gross $7.73 billion at the worldwide box office, making it one of the most successful film series of all time.

In 2021, to mark the original film’s 20th anniversary, HBO hosted a partial cast reunion and special tribute, “Back to Hogwarts,” looking at the magic these films brought to the world. Among other things, fans were treated to behind-the-scenes stories, trivia, and new interviews with some of the franchise’s biggest faces.

The runaway success of the special has viewers reflecting on the various actors who have appeared on the show, from newbies like Emma Watson to legends like Maggie Smith. With very few exceptions, all of the franchise’s main cast members have had incredibly successful careers, making appearances in dozens of movies, TV series, and plays.

Stacker took a look at the best and worst movies from the actors who play Harry, Hermione and Ron, along with seven other acclaimed actors behind important characters. The best and worst were determined by IMDb user ratings, with ties broken by user votes. Metascores are included for critical context. For four of the actors in question, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” is considered their best film. Only feature films were considered. The cameos were not counted.
