The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts hosts $12 “monochrome evenings” with tastings and DJs

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is hosting five “monochrome parties” to celebrate its exhibition Nicolas Party: The purple hour. Visitors are invited to dress in colors inspired by what the museum in a press release calls “the chromatic and phantasmagorical universe” of the artist.

Each of the events between March and September will have a different color. The color of the first holiday, March 23, is green. Red follows on April 20, then blue on May 18, pink on June 8, and light green on September 21.

In addition to admission to the exhibition, $12 tickets give partygoers access to creative workshops and screenings of films selected by Party itself.

The green evening will feature four short films by Jean Painlevé, whom the MMFA describes as a “biologist and documentary filmmaker renowned for his artistic and evocative approach revealing a penchant for scientific accuracy, coupled with an endless enchantment for nature and its wonders.

The museum also promises temporary tattoo stations and tastings at each of the monochrome evenings.

On the menu for March 23: insect tastings at local edible insect supplier La Mexicoise, whose recipes, according to its website, “are inspired by the pre-Hispanic Mexican culture of eating insects and are developed by chefs specializing in the field of entomophages in Quebec”. .”

Cocktails will be available to wash it all down.

DJ sets will liven up each of the five monochrome evenings. Montreal DJ OJPB is set to perform at the first event.

The monochrome green evening will take place between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
